Nagaland Governor La Ganesan passed away at breathed his last on Friday evening at Apollo hospital in Chennai. He was 80 years old.
He sustained a head injury after collapsing at home on 8 August. He underwent surgery for a blood clot and was in ICU at Apollo Hospital, Chennai, but unfortunately passed away.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute, calling him a “devout nationalist” and highlighting his contributions to the BJP’s growth in Tamil Nadu and his passion for Tamil culture.
Ganesan was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu in 1945 into a Tamil Brahmin family; his father passed away when he was young.
Previously he served as Governor of Manipur and had additional charge as Governor of West Bengal. He also served as a Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh.
