The announcement for creation of as many as four districts in Nagaland by the government in the last 2 months has raised the hopes of communities who have been demanding districts for a long time.
In this case, the demand of Aboi district (currently under Mon) has gained momentum. Aboi District Demand Committee (ADDC) has served an ultimatum on the state government to declare Aboi as district on or before January 23, 2022.
The ADDC mentioend that the demand for up-gradation of Aboi ADC HQ to district HQ was officially initiated in 2008 and was subsequently included in the cabinet memo of 2011.
ADDC convenor Manpon Changkap has said that the Konyak union to get confirmation from the state government by January 20.
The ADDC has warned that the “response/retaliation of the citizens maybe undemocratic” if the state government failed to grant their wishes.
