Child molestation case in Dimapur causes uproar

The recent case of alleged molestation of a minor girl in a school in Dimapur has caused much uproar and many organizations have come out to condemn it.

Various students unions including Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU), Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) and Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU) have expressed shock and resentment.

DNSU expressed resentment that bail was granted to the principal of the school and questioned the integrity of the court and the judge who had considered granting bail and showed leniency failing to realize the gravity and nature of the case.

DSSU stated that the release of the culprit on bail was an insult to the child victim who is a 4-year-old or girl and against the the principles of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and POCSO ACT 2019.

WSSU sought the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner and requested him to set-up an enquiry committee and cancel the license of the school and issue a non-bailable warrant. The student body warned that if justice was not served they would have no option but to come out on the street to seek justice.
