Hospitals and health centres in Nagaland are running out of COVID-19 vaccine even as people are almost in a panic state as the second wave of novel coronavirus surges across the country.

Health Department officials confirmed that hospitals and health centres are running out of stock while waiting for consignment from the Union Government.

The Department has already written to the Centre for more consignment of COVID-19 vaccine. Till April 20 there were 88,940 doses of vaccine available in the State, according to a senior health official. Another official said letter has been written to the Central Government last week for more consignment.

Currently the State Government is administering the vaccine to people above 45 years of age, and from May 1, above 18 years of age will also start.

The Government has been appealing the people to come and avail the vaccine from the nearest hospitals and health centres. (Nagaland Page)
