Lamhainamdi killings: Four suspects arrested

The Special Investigation Team headed by a DIG constituted to investigate the State Crime Police Station – Case No. 02/2021 have arrested 4 suspected persons on March 30 last in connection with the firing and killing of three persons in Lamhainamdi Village on March 22 last. The four arrested persons have been identified as Zheshito Swu, GB of Kiyevi Village, S/O Late Yethoze, Kiyevi Village; Ghosheto Swu, VDB Secretary of Kiyevi Village, S/o Late Yelhozle, Kiyevi village; Vikaho Kappo, S/o Khutokhu, Kiyevi Village; and Lovito Swu, S/O Hokiqhe, – Diphuphar village.

According to a release by the SP (Crime) & PRO, PHQ a suo motto Case No. 2/2021 under sections 302/120 B/188/34 IPC R/W 251B/27 (3) Arms Act was registered on March 23 last against unknown persons in the State Crime Police Station (SCPS) relating to the firing and killing of three persons in Lamhainamdi village on 22/03/2021.

Subsequently, a Special Investigation Team headed by a DIG ranked officer was constituted for investigation of the case. On registration of the case, the Special Investigation Team visited the place of occurrence on March 24. The team inspected the scene of crime and recorded the statements of the police personnel posted in the disputed area and also examined and recorded the statements of the eyewitnesses to the incident.

On March 25, extensive raid and search operations were carried out by combined team of SIT, DEF, STF and special branch personnel, in the vicinity of scene of crime and neighbouring villages. Following this Operation many relevant materials and evidences were collected and seized including empty and live ammunitions of various calibres.

The arrested persons are currently in police custody. During the course of investigation, vital leads having a bearing on the case have emerged and more arrests are likely to be effected in the coming days, police said adding the SIT is confident of unravelling the case to a logical conclusion.
