Inter District Movement: Thousands head home

Thousands of Nagas were headed home after the Government announced the travel window period of 7th May to 9th May.

2,434 persons stranded in Nagaland were ferried by 106 buses to their respective districts. A total of 1297 stranded passengers from Dimapur left for their respective districts and hometowns/villages.

Those buses travelling through Assam were provided with security personnel.

From the state capital Kohima, 1109 persons left for their respective homes in 38 buses. ADC Kohima informed that on Friday, stranded people in Kohima hailing from Longleng, Phek, Kiphire and Zunheboto will be sent home.

The main problems faced during this drive were maintaining social distancing and insufficient number of buses to ferry stranded people. Private buses have also been requisitioned by the government for this purpose.
