Govt constitutes one man panel to probe doctor assault

Nagaland government has constituted a one-man inquiry committee to probe the alleged assault on Dr. Nosezol Sezo, senior medical officer community health centre Medziphema, by Special Task Force (STF) personnel at Purana Bazar, Dimapur on April 3 night.

The committee would be headed by ACP “A” division Dimapur, Seyiesezo Peseyie. The officer has been directed to conduct thorough probe and submit the report at the earliest.

Deputy chief minister Y Patton expressed dismay over the incident.

Disheartened by the unfortunate incident of yesterday in which Dr. Sezo, a Senior Medical Officer was assaulted. At a time when our doctors and health workers are working overtime to ensure our safety, this is unacceptable. In this regard, we are taking immediate measures. 1/3

Patton went to say on Twitter “To begin with, we have formed an inquiry committee to investigate the matter. Actions will be taken against those found guilty. What happened yesterday evening should not have happened in the first place. We will see that such things are not repeated in the future.”

“Our doctors, police, and all frontline workers are our valuable assets. I appeal to the police personnel manning the streets, while appreciating their hard work and sacrifices, to discharge their responsibilities diligently and make sure that nothing should taint their image.” Patton added.

DGP John Longkumer, meanwhile tendered his apology.
