Rs 186 crore spent on Kohima-Dimapur highway

Delay in works of the four-lane road project between Dimapur and Kohima—contracted to M/s Ramky-ECI (JV) and M/s Gayatari Projects Ltd.—was due to “acute cash flow shortage”, according to the lone Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland, Tokheho Yepthomi.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Yepthomi maintained that this information was provided by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

“NHIDCL has already taken various steps to mitigate the cash flow problems being faced by the contractors. The contractors have also assured that two-lane road up to Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM) level will be constructed by February 2020 and four-lane road by April 2020.

“(The) minister has also informed that contractors have already been asked to rectify defects in the DBM layer immediately. He also informed that the project was being monitored at the level of Managing Director, NHIDCL with review meetings being held every fortnight and (the) governor of Nagaland is also reviewing projects monthly,” read the statement. – Agencies
