The quality of Nagaland coal is highly rated qualitively in the market and there is great demand for various commercial purposes.
In order to tap this good prospect of coal trading business, the Nagaland Industrial Raw Materials & Supply Corporation Ltd, Dimapur has been initiating venture for procuring and supplying local coal outside the state, according to the annual administrative report of the department of industries & commence.
This new venture of local coal trading business would generate sustainable income for NIRMSC Ltd and also help the local traders in providing well organized market and with the offer of reasonable rate timely, the report stated.
The matter is still under process, the report added.
It is pertinent to mention that the NIRMSC Ltd, Dimapur is a Government of Nagaland undertaking, established in March 1973, and fully taken over by the state government under industries and commerce department since January 1978 with objectives for procurement and supply of scarce raw materials to SSI units in the state also export/supply of state produce to the Public Sector Enterprises of both central and state government undertakings outside the state.
The Corporation dealt with procurement of scarce raw material such as Iron& Steel, Paraffin Wax, Rubber, Caustic Soda and Plastic raw materials to the SSI units in the state at government controlled price and also export/supply of state produce such as hardwood timber to Defense Ordnance Factories, Indian Railways, Coal India Ltd and bamboo to Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd. And thus smoothly venturing with good prospect of revenue resources until recession to business stagnation, as a result of decontrol/decentralization policy of the central government on scarce raw materials, such as Supreme Court ban on export of forest produce and non-availability of working capital.
NIRMSC Ltd has taken up Consignment Agency Yard of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) at Dimapur as the second SAIL C.A Yard in the Northeast India next to Guwahati for custody and handling operation on sale of quality iron and steel materials at government company price to the state of Nagaland, Manipur and adjoining areas of Assam which is operational from 01.07.05 initially for the period of three years and the business contract is further renewed from 01-08-09. And the SAIL is yet to intimate to NIRMSC for their new policy towards Consignment Agency Yard. (Morung Express)
