The Professional Footballers’ Association PFA Player of the Year, is an annual award given to the player adjudged the best of the season in English football.
Mohamed Salah of Liverpool made history by becoming the first-ever three-time winner of the PFA Player of the Year award in 2025. He previously won it in 2017–18 and 2021–22, and clinched it again following an outstanding 2024–25 campaign
The decision is made through a vote by PFA members—i.e., fellow professional players. The nomination process typically takes place in April, followed by a gala event later where winners across various categories are revealed.
Salah’s stellar form included 29 league goals and 18 assists, helping Liverpool secure the Premier League title.
Prior to Salah, other players who had won the award twice—including Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Kevin De Bruyne, Alan Shearer, and Mark Hughes—were all tied with two wins each.
