Jeff Bezos Set to Invest in Liverpool FC in $6 Billion Deal

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is reportedly preparing to join an investor consortium seeking a significant minority stake in Liverpool FC, potentially valuing the Premier League club at around $6 billion.

The consortium is led by Amit Bhatia, son-in-law of steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal and a former shareholder of Queens Park Rangers. Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder, is also expected to participate.

The proposed investment could involve a stake of more than 30%, according to a source familiar with the discussions. An announcement is expected in the coming days, although it could be delayed until next week.

If completed, the deal would make Bezos and Saverin minority co-owners alongside Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which has owned Liverpool since acquiring the club for about £300 million in 2010.

FSG confirmed last month that a consortium led by Bhatia had expressed interest in making a “strategic minority investment” in the club, but declined to comment on the latest developments.

Liverpool’s valuation has risen sharply under FSG, with Dynasty Equity acquiring a minority stake in 2023 at a valuation of more than $4.5 billion.

Bezos’ reported involvement would underline the growing appeal of elite football clubs to the world’s wealthiest investors. A $6 billion valuation would place Liverpool among the most valuable sports franchises globally.

Liverpool won the Premier League in the 2024-25 season but is entering a period of transition following changes to its coaching staff and squad.
