Alexander Isak: Newcastle United rejects Liverpool’s opening bid of £110 million

On August 1, 2025, Newcastle United rejected Liverpool’s opening bid of £110 million (about £120 million including add-ons) for Swedish striker Alexander Isak, The Guardian has reported.

Newcastle values Isak at around £150 million, believing the offered sum to be far too low.

Liverpool currently has no plans for a second bid unless Newcastle signals a change in stance — primarily because they deem another approach futile at this point.

Isak’s Position

Isak is reportedly eager to join Liverpool and has communicated his desire to leave. He missed Newcastle’s pre-season Asia tour—officially due to a “minor thigh injury”—and has been training in Spain at his former club Real Sociedad.

Contract renewal talks have stalled; he still has three years remaining on his deal and has refused an extension so far.

What Next?

For the deal to move forward, Newcastle would likely need to sign a replacement first. They’ve explored targets like Benjamin Šeško and Yoane Wissa, among others, but progress has been limited.

If Newcastle secures a suitable forward and signals they’re open to a deal, Liverpool might re-enter negotiations—especially if they get closer to Newcastle’s valuation.
