Euro 2020 QF: Spain Vs Switzerland: Who will win?

That’s a million dollar question.

With Switzerland’s blistering performance against France in the round of 16, the small european nation can not be taken lightly. On the other hand the clinical and star filled Spainish team seem to be getting their act together as the tournament progresses.

Here are some facts and figures:

  1. Spain has played Switzerland 22 times. Spain lost just once. Switzerland defeated Spain in the 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa.
  2. Spain and Switzerland are meeting for the first time at the European championship.
  3. This is Switzerland’s 4th quarter-final appearance in a major tournament.

Team news

Switzerland will be without suspended captain Granit Xhaka after the inspirational Arsenal midfielder received his second booking of the tournament against France.

For Spain, Jordi Alba is expected to return after being left out of the win over Croatia.

Win prediction

The absence of Granit Xhaka is huge loss for Switzerland and likely to be crucial to the final result. The Arsenal midfielder has been influential throughout the tournament and Spain are firm favourites, if they weren’t already, with him ruled out.
