“Burn candle on 5th April at 9 PM for 9 minutes”: Prime Minister Modi

All around the country, today at 9:00 AM Indians were glued to TV and social media accounts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi expecting him to announce something big related to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, citizens were taken for a surprise as PM Modi made a simple but meaningful request to all Indians.

PM Modi said “On Sunday, 5th April at 9:00 PM I need 9 minutes from you.”

“Close all the lights in your homes. Burn candles, turn on your torch or mobile flash light.”

Do not gather together during this time in the streets, he said. PM Modi appealed everyone to maintain social distancing.

“This experience will bring us together in our fight against the Corona crisis.” the Prime Minister said.
