The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has confirmed the arrest of Mr. Albert P. Lotha, a resident of NST Colony, for allegedly practicing as a medical doctor without the necessary qualifications. The arrest follows a formal complaint filed earlier this year by members of the Nagaland Medical Council.

According to the investigation, Lotha had falsely claimed to hold an MBBS degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. However, official records reveal that Lothar enrolled at the university in 2008 but did not complete even a year of study. Despite this, he had been practicing as a doctor at his family’s pharmacy, Medical Hall, located in New Market, since 2014. Over the years, Lotha is believed to have treated numerous patients, building a network with legitimate medical professionals and successfully prescribing medication. Authorities have invoked relevant sections of the Nagaland Medical Council Act, 2014, as well as other applicable laws in connection with the case. In response to the arrest, the police have urged anyone who may have been treated by Mr. Lotha or possesses prescriptions issued by him to come forward and report to the West Police Station. The Commissioner of Police reiterated that the arrest serves as a clear warning and emphasized that unqualified medical practice will not be tolerated.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to collect evidence in the case.
