There has been some important developments regarding upgradation of Shamator sub-division to district.
A cricial consultative meeting held at Commissioner Nagaland’s office on Jan 13 has brought about ‘positive’ news. As per reports the meeting deliberated and agreed that both the tribes– Yimkhung and Tikhir– would not claim Shamator as an exclusive Yimkhiung or Tikhir district, and instead shared by both. The meeting also recommended to recognise Tikhir tribe as an official tribe of Nagaland.
NPF MLA Kuzholuzo Azo Neinu went a step ahead and took to Twitter congratulating the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes. “Its a proud moment for us all that the Government is to up grade Samator Sub Division to that of a full fledged District and also give recognition to Tikhir tribe as well . My heartiest congratulations to both Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes” he tweeted.
The matters are likely to be taken up during the next cabinet meeting, after which official announcement will be made.
