Rumblings of discontent within BJP Nagaland

Temjen Imna Along

In an apparent sign of discontent within the Nagaland state BJP, the party’s organizational leaders have called for the removal of incumbent state unit President, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer.

10 state unit presidents wrote to Ajay Jamwal, National General Secretary, BJP and North East In Charge, expressing discontent over what was termed as “dictatorial and autocratic” style of functioning of the state unit president, who is also a Minister in the ruling PDA coalition.

The memorandum further claimed that the Phek district President, “who was officially elected as per the party constitution conducted by the State Returning Officer was unceremoniously removed on June 23 without any valid reason and four more district presidents are in his card to remove subsequently.”

The memo said that “one man one post policy should be immediately implemented in Nagaland at par with other states.”

It meanwhile also alleged that there is “no transparency” in the current State President’s management. The memo was signed by the party’s Wokha, Kiphire, Phek, Kohima, Peren, Mon, Tuensang, Noklak, Aboi (organizational district) and Zunheboto unit presidents.

BJP party sources informed that the letter was written on June 24. The sources informed that Longleng and Dimapur units abstained, while the Phek district president, who was removed from the post, was also among the signatories. (Morung Express)
