Are we generous enough this Easter?

Two house owners in Phek town have decided to waive off house rent from 17 tenants during the lockdown period. Both house owners- Neiwetsolo Akami and Neiwekha Akami hail from Losami village of Phek district.

Neiwetsolo Akami, former chairman of Losami village council told The Morung Express that he decided to skip one month rent considering the difficult circumstances his tenants are facing during this lockdown period in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. His building located at Bethel colony, Phek town house five families including two for commercial purpose. Neiwekha Akami, a farmer, informed that his building too located at Bethel colony house six families including four rooms for commercial activities. He too announced to waive off house rent from his tenants for a month.

Nagaland chief secretary Temjen Toy via twitter recently expressed happiness that some house owners of Nagaland “have decided not to charge rent from their daily wage tenants in view of COVID- 19.” “This exemplifies the spirit and solidarity required at this junction,” Rio tweeted.

It is so very heartwarming to learn that some house owners of Nagaland have decided not to charge rent from their daily wage tenants in view of Covid-19. This exemplifies the spirit and solidarity required at this juncture. @Neiphiu_Rio
