‘Enough fuel available’ says DCs of Dimapur and Kohima

The Deputy Commissioners of Dimapur and Kohima today appealed to the public not to panic buy and assured that there is sufficient stock of essential commodities in the districts.

Dimapur DC, Anoop Kinchi, IAS said there is sufficient stock of essential commodities including foodgrains, petrol, diesel and LPG available in the market.

He revealed this after calling a meeting with all wholesale dealers of essential commodities, all petroleum and LPG dealers, DMC, DCCI and Police on December 13 in the conference Hall of DC Dimapur.

After the meeting, the DC asked the public not to panic or go for panic buying. He further appealed to the public to fill their vehicle tanks but requested them to refrain from taking extra barrels for filling petrol/ diesel for even distribution to all consumers.

On the same note DC Dimapur also warned all the wholesalers/ dealers/ traders not to hoard items/ commodities thereby causing artificial shortage and price escalation. He cautioned that defaulters would be liable for stringent punishment including cancellation of trade licence and even imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Gregory Thejawelie informed the public that there is no shortage of fuel and other essential commodities in the district and informed the general public not to resort to panic buying and hoarding of fuels and other essential commodities.

In a release, the DC also stated that to avoid long queues and traffic jams in the petrol pumps, restriction has been imposed for filling of fuels in containers, except in the vehicles.
