In a strategic move by the Government of India, Deputy National Security Advisor R.N Ravi has been appointed Governor of Nagaland stated a press communique released by press secretary to the President of India.
Ravi is 1976-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Kerala cadre. He is also the government’s interlocutor for ongoing talks with Naga insurgent group National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) and man shaping the Naga peace accord. He has played vital role in ensuring that insurgency groups from North East have come to talking table.
Ravi appointment as Governor of Nagaland is symbolic. His appointment should not be seen only as another Governor appointment as per government regular policy.
