Section 144 CrPc in force in NH-29, Chumu areas

Commissioner of Police cum District Magistrate Dimapur has brought in force Section 144 CrPc in areas of NH-29 falling under Chumukedima with effect from 7 AM on 18th Oct for 24 hours. Gathering of 5 or more people has been prohibited.

As per reports, some members of Coordination Committee on Fuel Adultration (CCoFA) has been detained by the police on Tuesday morning. Following which, there have been tension between police and supporters of CCoFA near Police complex Chumukedima. Police resorted to lathi charge and tear gas shelling to disperse the crowd.

The indefinite NH 29 bandh on Nagaland Government vehicles and oil tankers called by the CCoFA has been declared ‘illegal’ by the state Government. However, the movement has received wide support from the public.
