Kohima: Newly elected BJP legislator Daochier I. Imchen was sworn in as a member of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Thursday during a ceremony held at the Speaker’s Chamber of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in Kohima.
The oath of office was administered by Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs K. G. Kenye, Advisor for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources A. Pangjung Jamir, and MLAs Achumbemo Kikon and Nuklutoshi.
Daochier Imchen recently won the by-election from the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency on a BJP ticket, entering the Assembly as one of its youngest members. The by-election was necessitated following the demise of former BJP MLA Imkong L. Imchen last year.
Speaking after the ceremony, Imchen expressed gratitude to the people of the constituency and reaffirmed his commitment to serve with integrity and sincerity. He said the trust placed in him by the electorate would guide his efforts toward development and inclusive progress.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by BJP leaders, legislators, supporters, and family members, marking a significant moment in Nagaland’s political landscape following the recent by-election victory.
