Nagaland is “disturbed and dangerous”: Home Ministry

Dimapur police has reiterated that all foreign nationals visiting Nagaland must compulsorily obtain a Protected Area Permit, or PAP.

In a press note yesterday, the commissioner of police said, despite repeated advisories on the withdrawal of the relaxation by the Ministry of Home Affairs, foreign nationals continue to enter Nagaland without obtaining the mandatory permit.

The press note said authorities, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Indian Missions abroad, FRROs, the Home Commissioner of Nagaland, the Resident Commissioner of Nagaland in New Delhi, and the Secretary of Tourism, Government of Nagaland, are authorised to issue PAP.

Further, all foreign visitors must also register with the Foreigners Registration Officer of the district concerned within 24 hours of arrival.

Police said that to avoid delays in granting PAP, applications should be submitted online through the e-FRRO portal.

Police have directed the public, government departments, travel agents, hotels and others facilitating the stay of foreign nationals to verify that foreign nationals possess a valid PAP before providing any service and ensure strict compliance with the PAP regime.
